Misti Blu is a hair stylist and salon owner in Rockledge, Florida. She has a strong background in education, sales, marketing, consulting and product development. Misti is inspired by art, music, and culture, as well as helping others.
Misti Blu Dream is inspired by Misti’s lifelong battle with misdiagnosis and finally discovering Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and MTHFR mutation. She has had four cardiac ablations for SVT from 2003-2010 and open heart surgery to repair a leaky aortic valve in 2011, a pacemaker in 2017, hysterectomy for cervical cancer and endometriosis, sleep apnea, migraines and nerve damage in her fingers, just to name a few of her health battles.
In January of 2017, her health had hit rock bottom. She was experiencing vasospasms, constricting blood flow to her heart and causing very scary arrhythmias and close calls to heart attacks and cardiac arrest. Four ambulance rides, over two dozen ER visits and 3 hospital admissions, she was on the verge of giving up. Doctors did not take her health seriously and the doctors she did see were negligent. They tried to give her prescriptions of Xanax and Valium and called her medical mystery “panic attacks.” She was also misdiagnosed with heartburn, neither of which she was experiencing. Luckily, with her extensive cardiac history, she knew to take Aspirin and CBD oil each time she was headed to the ER, which probably saved her life.
Misti went back to the hospitals after each visit and entered the medical records office for copies of each visit. Medical records are available to you the next business day. After studying blood work and test results, researching possibilities, cross-referencing lists and checking off diagnoses s that were ruled out, Misti brought in her pile of records to her primary care physician and demanded the ANA test to rule out autoimmune diseases.
“If these episodes are just anxiety, then explain to me why my neutrophils are dangerously low and my lymphocytes are high, my kidney function is showing damage. I demand further lab work. I want my ANA tested and my vitamin B & D levels checked as well as my ESR. This is not anxiety.” Her doctor had nothing to say but place orders. The nurse delivering her orders had much to say and tried to talk her out of her “ridiculous and expensive orders.”
Two weeks later, she picked up her results and her ANA was positive. This was something that should have been done 15 years ago! It was not a final answer but a start to find answers. Eventually, Lupus was ruled out and the positive ANA was likely from Cervical Cancer. Over the next few months, she was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and finally got a pacemaker.
Misti has changed her diet dramatically and has cut out processed foods, preservatives, dyes, artificial flavors, gluten and dairy. CBD oil has been a very helpful aid as well. Her mission is to help others to find medical justice and stand up for themselves and to live healthy lives while educating themselves. She is currently working toward getting into an RN program to fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a nurse and helping others.
